    Hidden Kingdom

    Description

    Hidden Kingdom

Hidden beneath many of the world's tallest trees is an extensive network of lifeforms connected by thousands of miles of informational pathways called micillia. This life form which is neither plant nor animal are in fact fungi and in the ancient forest of the giant redwoods you can often find the flowering bodies of these fungi which we know as mushrooms. Hidden Kingdom is an image of a mushroom cluster I found deep within a dark cavity created by the roots of a huge redwood while hiking in northern California. The sight of these mushrooms was a reminder that while or heads are usually looking upward and out when walking through such impressive old growth forests, we’re often oblivious to the complex and integrated networks of information and nutrient sharing happening between many different species of plants provided by the micilla created by the fungi.
